Ambre Noire [Black Amber] is the merging of 3 Worlds, where the Jungle meets the Desert meets the Ocean. The Jungle is where sweet things comes from; our own "House crafted" Papuan Vanilla oil meets Siamese Benzoin Gum, Brazilian Tonka Beans and sweet Cambodi Oud, forming the sweet body of the Amber.
But no sweet body can be fully express without a dry counterpart, this is where the Desert comes into play; when the first rain falls upon the dry desert grounds of North-India, clay is harvested, baked it into small vessels, and then broken and distilled into a sandalwood base. The result is an incredible experience we may refer to as the "petrichor" of the desert.
Now this Amber would not be a true amber without its oceanic parts; the word "amber" itself comes from a substance called "Ambergris", which means grey amber and is one of the most legendary perfume material in the world. Formed inside the stomach of the Sperm Whale and expelled through the "vomit" route, Ambergris will oftentimes spend decades into the ocean before washing ashore and be found by a lucky hunter. The generous portion of Ambergris used in this formula was sourced from the Bahamas.
But we did not stop here. The Oceanic aspect of Ambre Noire is truly achieved using one of the oldest techniques of destructive distillation in the world to extract what we call an oil of calcined seashells. It is a very ancient techniques which involves building small mud stoves with seashells trapped into them and calcining them, the result is a form of ocean-calcium-ash oil, which truly smells like the sea.
Ambre Noire is an evolution of our older blend called "Holy Smoke". but its expression here is more balanced and perfected, with the addition of the actual "gem" of the ocean called Ambergris.
